I reach the crest of the Parkway at milepost 431.4, and continue south toward the Great Smoky Mountains. The southern section of the Parkway is my favorite, with open views near Grandfather Mountain and Mount Mitchell. A brief afternoon rainstorm blows through, but doesn't spoil the ride.
