The Leprosy Museum, on Kong Oscars gate is one of the oldest hospitals in Scandinavia, dating to the 1400s. From 1820 it was reserved for tending lepers. The disease was eventually eradicated after Bergenser Armauer Hansens discoved its cause in 1873.
