Ferry landing for Lake Vermilion Resort. Lake Thomas A Edison, a reservoir, was so low that decades old stumps were exposed, and a mile hike over mudflats was required to reach a spot where a small skiff could land. The resort caters to hikers and is a JMT resupply point. They offer a free beer and a tentsite to all thru-hikers. That, and the lure of a home-cooked meal, was too hard to pass up.
