Wild roses at Otter Cove, the site of the first granite quarry on Mount Desert Island. The notch on the skyline lies between Cadillac and Dorr Mountains. The next day I will begin the return trip, following Route 1 along the Maine coast, then through the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the Green Mountains of Vermont.
