In June 2008 I have a field project in Maine planned, and, itching for a long ride, decide to make it into a road trip. I follow the Taconic Parkway and Route 22 in eastern New York to Vermont Route 9, the scenic Molly Stark Highway. The forecast calls for storms, and temperatures are in the 50s. Signs along the highway say that bikers are welcome ahead, and, hungry and chilled, I finally reach the spot.
