Riders around the world have heard of the Tail of the Dragon, "318 curves in 11 miles". I arrive at Deals Gap North Carolina in the late afternoon, after 8 hours on the road. Riders gather in front of Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort, swapping tales and gunning engines. A constant stream of bikes enter and exit the run. I hear that a girl just ran her bike off the road, missing a curve. I talk with the owner of a new Harley who is not enthusiastic about having to repeat the ride on his return home. I take a break, stretch my legs and check out the store. Now I am ready to ride the Dragon.
