Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway together are 574 miles (924 km) of some of the most scenic riding in the eastern US, and I am looking forward to it. Skyline Drive (A), completed in 1939, runs 105 miles (169 km) from Front Royal south to Rockfish Gap along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. The Blue Ridge Parkway (B to F) continues south another 469 miles (755 km) along the Blue Ridge to the Cherokee Reservation and Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. Work on the Parkway began in 1935, but was not completed until 1987. Maps from Byways.org.
