July 29 Bodega Bay to Sonoma State University - In the morning we hike along Bodega Head, the northernmost exposures of the Salinian terrane, granitic rocks carried northward along the San Andreas Fault. We have now left the North American Plate, and are on the Pacific Plate. An ill-conceived attempt to construct a nuclear power plant here was thwarted in 1964.
